When it comes to pets, there are few animals like dogs, and there is a reason why so many people love and have dogs as pets. Like any animal though, dogs require a certain amount of training to become good pets, not unlike how we need to be taught lessons about how to be a good person. What is also ironic about that, as our attached video alludes to, is that, much like people, dog training through the “teenage phase” can also be the most challenging. Yes, even for those dogs (and people) that are fast learners or that have a sweet temperament.
The key to training your favorite and fast-growing four-legged friend is patience. With the right training and consistent techniques, most dogs will learn sooner rather than later. The caveat here, though, is that all dogs may be a bit more temperamental through their teen years. As dogs enter pre-early adulthood, they get a sense of confidence and can often become more bold, daring, and even combative. Does that sound like any teenagers you know? Yes, dogs have many similarities to people, and perhaps that is one more reason we have such an affinity towards our canine companions. No, there probably isn’t a serious problem, they are just being teenagers, and remembering that will pay dividends during dog training through these sometimes tumultuous stages.
